Our Approach
Based on the principles of integrative medicine, the science of behavior change and motivational interviewing, everyone can benefit from our results oriented approach. Anchored in the trustworthy evidence-based medical and behavioral research from Duke Integrative Medicine and other leading medical schools, we provide the highest standard of service and information. What is Integrative Medicine? Practiced and taught at over fifty leading hospitals and medical schools around the United States such as Harvard Medical School, Stanford Medical School and Johns Hopkins Hospital, integrative medicine includes these benefits and characteristics and approaches: * Whole Person * Supportive * Partnership * Health Orientation * Proactive * Lifelong Planning Integrative Medicine integrates the best of conventional medicine and evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) with an emphasis on living healthy lifestyles. As Dr. Andrew Weil explains the centerpiece of the discipline: "Integrative medicine is the intelligent combination of conventional and complementary medicine." The Limits of Our Role Our staff delivers educational, consulting, motivational and coaching services based on our knowledge of the principles of integrative medicine and behavior change. We are not medical professionals and do not practice medicine or provide medical advice. For medical advice and care, our clients consult and rely on their physicians and medical specialists. When requested by our clients, we partner with their medical providers to enhance their care for optimal outcomes. Our Mission The MIW mission is to the provide excellent and compassionate wellness services with reliable information to empower individuals, medical patients, employees, healthcare professionals and members of professional organizations to achieve their optimal wellness, peak performance and highest life aspirations. We proudly partner with others in the Integrative Medicine community to transform healthcare for the benefit of all. Our Values The soul of our business is depicted by our logo: a tree rooted in the earth. It is a symbol of the interconnected nature of wellness. On a grander scale, it reflects how our clients, the many dimensions of their lives, the global community and the earth are inextricably linked.
